What is Sports Performance Training?
Sports performance is a branch of the fitness industry geared towards improving athletic performance. This is accomplished, in short, by making athletes faster. If the athlete is faster than his/her opponent, then they have the upper hand on the field. Developing quick athletes involves combining any and every method beneficial, including resistance training, power lifting, Olympic lifting, mobility drills, speed/agility techniques, and metabolic conditioning. All of our training is tailored to each individual's sport.
How do you hire your coaches?
All of the coaches must have a four-year degree in Exercise Science or a related field. Additionally, they must hold credentials from reputable organizations such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association,
How do I get started in the SPS program?
Contact Andrew, our Sports Performance Coordinator, to set up an initial evaluation.. The initial evaluation is an opportunity for you and your child to learn what strengths and/or weaknesses your athlete has, and how we can create a training program to set your athlete on the best path to athletic success.
Can I bring my team in to do training together?
SPS Sports Performance is able to work with teams/groups of any size, either at our facility or off-site. Previously, we have worked with Racine United FC, Rally Baseball, Racine Gladiators, and the Racine Raiders. We can train teams at the same time or split teams by position or age group. Have your team manager, coach or program director contact SPS Sports Performance to set up a meeting to determine how you can get started on a training program.
Based on the specific sport my athlete plays, is there a "best" time to come in and train?
SPS Sports Performance offers year-round training. We have options that work around your playing season. This seasonal designation determine the frequency of training and the methods used to get the best results from your athlete. At any time of year, we can set up a training program that best represents what the athlete needs.
Does SPS Sports Performance have a nutrition component to help my athlete eat correctly?
Our coaches have experience in sports nutrition and can give recommendations based on the demands of the sport and the needs of each individual athlete.
